Anti-Jewish Propaganda

Those in the United States — like the American Council for
Judaism — who have been under the mistaken impression that the
Egyptian dictator, Col. Nasser, is an enemy of Israel only and not of
the Jews in general, will now have to change their minds . . . All
they need do is to read the booklet "Israel, the Enemy of Africa,"
published in Cairo by the Information Department of the Egyptian
government . . . This malicious piece of Egyptian propaganda is,
despite its title, directed not against Israel alone; it is the dirtiest
anti-Jewish pamphlet since the notorious "Protocols of the Elders of
Zion" . . . in fact, a good part of it is built on these so-railed
"Protocols" which long ago were declared a forgery by competent

The U.S. Department of Commerce, which is watching closely
the economic -developments in Israel, is of the opinion that the year
1965 offers "promising" opportunities for American businessmen . . .
It draws the attention of American firms to the fact that U.S. exports
to Israel experienced a marked upswing during 1964 and will likely
top the $200,000,000 mark for the last year . . . The improveg sales
of U.S. goods to Israel in 1964 is explained by the Department of
Commerce by Israel's expanding economy and rising per capita income
. . . Also by a strong demand for the latest types of machinery
resulting from efforts to modernize existing plants and to develop
new industries . . . These continuing factors, coupled with a decided
preference for U.S. goods, should enable the U.S. to retain its present
position as "number one" supplier, if U.S. exporters are able to meet
the challenge of keen price competition, the Department of Commerce
analysts believe . . . They emphasize that Israel is a rapidly growing
country with pre capita income already exceeding that of some
European countries . . . And they tell American business firms
that the - enviable" rate of Israel's economic expansion, evident for
the last decade, promises to continue . . . They also urge U.S. firms
to participate in the Home Show at the Tel Aviv International Fair
grounds next June . . . Incidentally the U.S. supplied 25 per cent of
Israel's total imports during January-October 1964. . . This amounted
to 170 million dollars as compared with 152 million durinethe same
period in 1963 . . . Isarel's chief import from the U.S. are cereals,
industrial machinery and equipment, electronic goods, scientific and
medical equipment and office machinery . . . Israel's chief exports to
the U.S. are diamonds, raincoats, yarn thread, printed matter, cement
and natural abrasives . . . Israel's exports to the U.S. amounted to
$47,000,000 during January-September 1964 and constituted 18 percent
of Israel's total export.
