From 194246 he was a naval officer in World War II; was in charge of classification centers where he was responsible for psychological testing, and after the war, 1946> to 1950, was director of psychological services at Stan- ford University. Prior to the war.. he was with the Detroit Board of Education as a counselor and teacher of "be- havior problem" boys. Dr. Barahal has written a book which was published by the Stan- - ford University Press in 1950, and has written many articles on coun- seling. He lives at 19782 Ward with his wife, Frieda, and three children. JNF Women Raise $55,000 at Donor Harry Fixlers to Mark Golden Wedding Date Mr. and Mrs. Harry Fixler, 3353 W. Boston, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Tuesday at a dinner given by their chil- dren, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Fixler and Mr. land Mrs. Jack Erman. The couple was married. in De- troit Jan. 31, 1915. They have four grandchildren. Mr. Fixler, who has been affili- ated with Sun Life Assurance Co. of Canada for 40 years, is still ac- tive in the company. He is a mem- ber of Shiner Masonic Lodge, Shriners and the Retired Men's Club of the Jewish Center. She belongs to Zedakah Club, Jewish Home for the Aged and Bnai Moshe Sisterhood. They also are charter members of Cong. Bnai Moshe, of which Mrs. Fixler's father was a founder. Bar-Ilan Friends to Hear Barahal at Feb. 11 Fete The Women's Auxiliary of the Jewish National Fund reached new heights at their annual donor event and announced, at the function at Temple Israel on Tuesday, that $55,000 had been contributed. Mrs. Pearl Nosan, chairman of the donor, stated that the Pillars of Courage project caught the commu- nity's imagination and many more participated in the project to be established at the Detroit develop- ment- area at Gadot in Israel. Participants in the program in- cluded Mrs. Morris Kutinsky, presi- dent of the auxiliary; Mrs. William Levin, program chairman, and Mrs. Otis, president of Young Women of JNF. The entertainers were the Four Ayalons, an Israeli group of sing- ers, who thrilled the audience with numerous Israeli selections.
