Kugler also pointed out a sec-

responsible for the Auschwitz

medical experiments.
One of the newly found docu-

The visiting court officials also

VIENNA. (JTA)—Franz Novak,
former aide to Adolf Eichmann in
the wartime occupation of Hun-
gary, was sentenced by a Vienna
court to eight years' imprison-
ment for his role in the mass mur-
der of Jews. Since he has already
served four years, he will be free
in four years.
The jurors found the 51-yer-old
typesetter guilty of "violence un-
der aggravating circumstances" in
the deaths of thousands of Jewish
men, women and children who
• perished from starvation, cold and
abuse while packed in cattle cars
bound for concentration camps.
All eight jurors acquitted Novak
of charges of murder of French
and German Jews rounded up in
1942 and sent to death camps on
his orders.

Optical Pioneer
August Beer, a 19th century
