(From the Book of Esther)
American Jewry has reason to rejoice over the services ren-
dered by our good friend and communal co-worker, Mr. Max M.
Fisher, to our people everywhere.
The elevation of Mr. Fisher to the highest ranking philan-
thropic position in world Jewry is the culmination of his step-by-
step dedication to the highest humanitarian ideals.
From the humble role of campaign solicitor, as a member of
several Detroit agency boards, as president of the Jewish Wel-
fare Federation and as chairman of our Allied Jewish Campaigns
—gaining fame as a leader first on the local scene and then on
the national front—Mr. Fisher has given of himself and of all his
means at his disposal to make our community great and to set an
example for untiring service to the country at large.
May his hands be strengthened in the new tasks he is now
undertaking, and may all of us be privileged to work with him
for the attainment of the highest goals of the United Jewish Ap-
peal.
