GENERAL CHAIRMAN

1965 United Jewish Appeal

We are proud to pay tribute to Max M. Fisher on the occasion of his

appointment as General Chairman of the United Jewish Appeal for 1965.

Max M. Fisher has always believed that national leadership must be
rooted in the organized local communities, and set a sterling example for
his fellow Jews by his diligent work on the local level for both Jewish and
civic causes. His philanthropic and communal efforts on the national and
world scene are well known, for his unique synthesis of heart and head
have made his efforts outstandingly effective in these worthy pursuits. In
short, where Max Fisher has led, a responsive citizenry has aiwayF followed.

Therefore, on behalf of the officers and Board of the Jewish Welfare
Federation of Detroit and the 55 member agencies that share in its Allied
Jewish Campaign, we pledge our support to the programs for our people
everywhere in 1965 as symbolized by Max M. Fisher, who has pledged with
selfless devotion his own support to these same causes.
