NEW YORK — The showing of

Public school here was canceled
after a sharp protest to the board
of education by the American Jew-
ish Congress.
The Parents Association of Ed-
gar D. Shimer Junior High School

in
plans to show the religious film
in the school auditorium — after
school hours — as a fund-raising
event. A Walt Disney children's
film replaced the scheduled pres-
entation of "Christ The King." des-
cribed by Catholic Film Distrib-
utors. Inc.. as "the story of Christ's
passion."
When the school principal
learned of the announcement of
the scheduled showing, he called in
the parents and tried to dissuade
them from their Plans. At the same
time. the American Jewish Con-
gress. Metropolitan Council heard
of the plans and protested to
School Superintendent Calvin E.
