Ypsilanti State hospital.
The group chartered buses to
provide transportation for this
group of mental patients to attend
the Ann Arbor Civic Theater stage I
play of "Gypsy - at the Lydia Men- '
Belson Theater.
Zedekah4lub also provided .re-
freshments for this group of pa-;
tients during the performance.
For one patieut in the group this
was the thrill of a lifetime since
he has been housed in a mental
institution since 1928. His first visit •
outside was to the Passover dinner
Center. For Martin this will be his
first and perhaps his last stage
play and the second • time out of
an institution in 36 years. Martin
said: "It is nice to know there are
those who care. -
Harvey S.. another patient. when
informed of the event, stated that
the club's efforts have meant much
to him for his contact with the
group at the Passover dinner was
the first time to communicate ver-
bally with anyone in many years.
He is now able to attend the weekly -
Jewish services in the hospital
chapel.
Zedakah donor events provide
funds for such services.
