The Apocalyptics were opposed to
teroristic acts. and the use of vio-
lence. They preached love. not
violence. The Apocalyptic- Phari-
sees were a God-fearing people,
anticipating the day when God
would redeem his own.
It was at this time—a time of
political, economic and religious
strife -- that Jesus of Nazareth
preached his Sermon on the Mount..
On his arrival in Jerusalem he
was hailed by his Jewish follow-
ers as - the son of David," the
"King of the Jews." But a few
short days later. Jesus was cruel-
fied by the Romans as - the King
of the Jews."

RECIPE OF THE WEEK: VEAL CHASSEUR

2 lbs. veal steak sliced 1/4" thick; 1/4 cup Mar Parv; 2 shallots, minced, or
2 Tbl. minced onion and 1 small oarlic clove, minced; 1 lb. mUshrooms,
sliced; V2 cup dry white wine; 2 tbls. chopped parsley; 1 teas. salt; freshly
ground black pepper; brown sauce.

Cut veal into 1" pieces. Saute veal in Mar Pary for 10 minutes or until
golden brown. Remove from skillet and keep hot. Saute shallots and mush-
rooms in Mar Pary remaining in skillet for S minutes. Add wine and sim-
mer for 15 minutes or until the liquid is reduced one half. Stir in brown
sauce, parsley, salt and pepper. Add meat and simmer for 5 minutes.
Serves 6. -

ERIE, Pa. (JTA)—One out of
five Jewish families in this com
munity have sought and received
some form of aid from the Social
Service Department of the Jew-
i.sh Community Welfare Council
here during the gest year, accord-
ing to a report submitted to the
JCWC board of directors by Mrs.
Sylvan Bondy, chairman of the de-
partment.
Typical of recent cases are ad-
missions to homes for the aged
and private nursing care, refer-
rals to psychiatric hospitals, adop-
tions, home-makers, rehabilitation,
vocational counseling and employ-
ment, residential care for emotion-
ally disturbed children, and social
adjustment of discharged mental
patients.
