Dr. Lawrence Hoffman

Cong. Bnai David is represented at the national bienniel con-
vention of the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America
by a delegation consisting of Rabbi Hayim Donin, Jack. J. Kraizman,
synagogue vice president, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Sherizen, and Mr. and
Mrs. Julius Rotenberg. The convention is being held at the Shoreham
Hotel, Washington, D. C., through Sunday. At the Thursday evening
session, Mr. Rotenberg was among 16 honorees to receive a community
service award for his services to the synagogue and the Jewish
community.

The Sherman Family Club will meet 8:30 p.m. Sunday for a Han-
ukah party at the home of Abe Sherman, 18234 Manor. Co-hostess will
be Mrs. Ray Rosenberg. Grab-bag gifts will be exchanged.
Mrs. Rebecca Frohman will present Barbara Usas in a piano recital
3 p.m. Sunday • at McAuley Auditorium. The 14-year-old pianist will
present a program of works by Handel, Respighi and Carpenter, hith-
lighted by Beethoven's 2nd Concerto in B Flat Major.
Tracy Freeman of E. Jefferson Ave. is vacationing in the Bahamas
after returning from a month's trip in Russia, Poland, Bohemia and
adjoining countries.

Anyone with a basic knowledge
of Talmud study is invited to par-
ticipate in the recently formed
Yeshiva Kollel, an institute of
higher learning and Talmudic re-
search, that meets 6- p.m. daily
at Cong. Bnai Jacob.
Although before World War II,
there were such colleges of Tal-
mudical studies in every major
European city, there are few in
the United States outside the East
Coast.
Besides research, adult education
and a special department to answer
questions on Talmud and Jewish
life are main concerns of the Ye-
