When the two airmen finally

The appearance of uniformed Nazis

director making a war movie in
postwar Germany.

Next door to Reinhardt's unit,
we talked with director Curt Hoff-
man (•ho guided . the revealing
"Aren't We Wonderful," an expose
postwar Germany, a few years
ago) and with Heinz Ruehmann,
the star of "Ship of Fools" who
recently returned to Germany
from Hollywood. They are curren-
tly collaborating on the second re-
make of "Dr. Hiob Praetorious"
from the stage play by the late
Kurt Goetz with Ruehmann essay-
ing the title role (in the American
version of 1951 portrayed by Cary
Grant).

When we asked Ruehmann about
the character of the German Jew
Lowenstein, whom he. the former
screen star of the Third :teich, por-
trayed for Stanley Kramer in the
I Hollywood filmization of Katherine
'Anne Porter's "Ship of Fools," the
