declares:
"More well known in the United

States may be another aspect of
Orthodoxy. A kind of left - wing
Orthodoxy, called 'Neo-Orthodoxy,'
has shaped up under the leader-
ship of Martin Buber, Jewish Ex-
istentialist . . . The current popu-
larity of Existentialism has led to
curiosity about its varieties. and
it may be that Buber's works now
find more readers among non-Jews
than among Jews. Whether such
'Neo-Orthodoxy is a per ma n en t
movement or a temporary fad re-
mains to be seen. One Reform rab-
bi recently dismissed Jewish Exis-
tentialism as 'the dying gasp of
Ne-o-Orthodoxy.' "
There is no doubt that the Ortho-
dox in this country will be amazed
to read this "aspect" of Judaism.
Tin fact, all American JeWs, except
for the very small group of Bu-
berites, will be puzzled by it.
In view of an atheistic trend
among a very limited number of
people, Prof. Bahm's explanation
of Humanism asserts that "man
is naturally religious." stating that
Humanists believe it would be
foolish to organize a separate reli-
gion, Dr. Bahm adds that "about
the only reason for a specifically
Humanistic religious society is to
protest against those who say that
man is not good or an end in him-
self."

You cannot talk with a person
who has eaten certain vegetables,
before four hours, because of his
malodorous breath.—Berachoth 54.
