Many new features make this

Goldman's New
William Goldman's new novel,
"Boys and Girls Together," pub-
lished by Atheneum (162 E. 38th,
NY 16). is, in reality, a grouping
of many stories which are joined
together into a single plot.
It is a large work, well written,
full of action, about several fami-
lies who are skilfully drawn to-
, gether into an adventure of many
loves, of human complicities, of
conflicts that draw attention to
many social problems.
A number of young couples, first
depicted in love affairs. then
brought together into the culmin-
ating plot. are analyzed and de-
, pitted with the genuine skill of
an able novelist.
There are numerous love affairs,
but what especially distinguishes
this work is the author powerful ;
delineation of homosexuality, of
the attitudes and actions of the
afflicted.
Goldman, who has authored
three other novels, has produced
what may well be considered his
best work in "Boys and Girls To-
gether." He is the master of nar-
tional contributions by Frankel,

back more than 800 years.
