ing to prevent a decline in the political strength of the Mapai and

MEXICO CITY (JTA) — The
close links existing between the
Jewish community of this country
and the Mexican government under
the administration of the outgoing
chief of state, President Adolfo
Lopez Mateos, were emphasized
here Oct. 26 when 500 leaders of
the Jewish community tendered a
dinner in honor of President
Mateos.

a President of Mexico had ever at-
tended an event given specifically
in his honor by the Jewish com-
munity of this country.
