Louis James Rosenberg, Ex-Consul
for Panama Here, Succumbs at 88

Louis James Rosenberg, former
Panamanian consul general in De-
troit, died Oct. 16 in the Jewish
Home for the Aged. He was 88.
Mr. Rosenberg, who was con-
sular representative of Panama
here almost 30 years, was decor-
ated by Panama with the Cross of
Knighthood of the Order of Bal-
boa in 1946.
For many years, Mr. Rosenberg
was legal correspondent in Michi-
gan for a number of diplomatic

From 1919 to 1922, Mr. Rosen-
berg was a trustee of the Jewish
Publications Society of America.
He was active in Bnai Brith, serv-
ing actively on several Anti-Defa-
mation League committees.
Among his affiliations were Ro-
tary, local, state' and American Bar
associations, National Arts Club,
Detroit Foreign Trade Club and
many others.
Literary works he authored in-
luded "Mazzini, The Prophet of
the Religion of Humanity," "The
Medical Expert and Other Papers"
and, in collaboration with Dr.
Noah E. Aronstam, "Sociologic
Studies of a Medico-Legal Nature."
Husband of the late Mildred
Simons, he is survived by a sister,
Mrs. Bertha Love; and a nephew.
