Goldwater Opposed by Reconstructionist

The Reconstructionist magazine,
founded by Dr. Mordecai M. „Kap-
lan, has "come - out unequivocally
against Senator Goldwater." Al-
though the magazine has in the
past dealt with issues from a re-
ligious point of view, "endorsing
principles, not people," the candi-
dacy of Barry Goldwater is viewed
as present a danger so great that
its editors felt that bold statements
were necessary. "This year," the
lead editorial
states, "it is not

enough to make known our princi-
ples for fear someone, somewhere,
might not understand the implica-
tions. Let no one mistake what we
mean. We oppose Senator Gold-

water."

"Cleopatra" filmed in Cinema-
scope and color, starring Elizabeth
Taylor, Richard Burton and Rex
Harrison, will continue for an-
other • week at the Birmingham
Theater.

State Dean Rusk.
In a letter to the secretary,
Plofsky asked the State Depart-
ment "to desist from a position al-
ready repudiated by the votes of
almost the entire Senate." He made
reference to adoption by. the
Senate on Sept. 24 of an amend-
ment to the foreign aid bill, voic-

the rising tide of Soviet anti-Semi-

The resolution was adopted by
a vote of virtually the entire Sen-
