Expert Says Nazis Lie
in Denying Knowledge
of the Murder of Jews
MUNICH (JTA)—An expert on
contemporary German history told
a war crimes trial that claims by
former SS officers at such trials
that they had never known any-
thing about the Nazi annihilation
of Jews were "grotesque untruth-
fulness."
The expert was Dr. Von Kran-
nhals, of Luenberg, who testified
at the trial of former SS Gen. Karl
Wolff, who is charged with the war-
time slaughter of 300,000 Jews in
occupied Warsaw. Wolff was an ad-
jutant to Gestapo Chief Heinrich
Himmler.
The expert also testified that the
German armed' forces had tried to
prevent the SS from killing Jews
in Poland, and that the mass mur-
ders had led to sharp differences
between the army and the SS.
