When he took office, Olsen was
39. He had been in the Prosecu-
tor's office for eight years and
was the chief trial laWyer for out-
county major felony cases.
He was also a special assistant
United States District Attorney.
The six - fool. 195 - pound Prose-
.cutor graduated from Highland
Park High School in 1936. He at-
tended Highland Park Junior Col-
lege, and Northwestern Univer-
sity. and r,ceived his law degree
from Wa.ne State University in
1942. '
Olsen was a college baseball
star, a municipal -tennis champion
and a trumpeter with the Scandi
navian: Symphony Orchestra,

trolt at. the age of six, and he can
still speak Danish as fluently as
English.
In 1955. Olsen became the first •.
prosecutor to win admission .of a
tape recording as evidence in a
murder trial. He also is the only
prosecutor to gain conviction on
an attempted murder conspiracy
charge. ' • .

Lou Gordon Is a candidate for
the
office of Detroit Recorders
Court, Judge to fill. the vacancy
created by the death' of Judge W.
McKay Skillman. He has been a
practicing trial attorney in the
Detroit area for five years.
Gordon attended Detroit grade
and high schools, - graduating from
Central High in 1951; He attended
Wayne State University, receiving
his bachelor of arts degree in
business 'administration in 1955
and the law degree in 1958.
He is a member of the Americah,

of the National Association of

Gordon is affiliated with the
Masonic Order, Perfection 'Lodge,
as a third degree Mason, is a
trustee- of the Eight Mile-Redferzi
Homeowners Association 'and for-
merly served as a secretary in the
organization. He is married and
has one child. The family resides
