Importance of Primary
Stressed by Candidate

An appeal to the self-interest of
• independent voters in the 6th Dis-
trict w a s issued by Democrat
Charles Levin. candidate for the
Michigan State Senate.

Levin, noting that the past vot-
ing history of the area comprising
the 6th District "virtually makes
certain that the Sept. 1 primary
will actually decide the 'election,"
voters not to ignore the
primary. The Sept. 1 vote he
said, is not only a preview of the
results to be expected in Novem-
ber: it is really the decisive elec
tion.

He pointed out that, histor-
ically, the. district's voters elect
Democrats to represent them in
the State Senate and the lower
house of the legislature • . .
"and this yeai, there is no time
for a voter. to 'wait and see' who
the candidates will be."

YOuth unemployment; dropouts
and juvenile delinquency; senior
citizens; urban renewal and tax
