Elias Botkin Killed
in Freeway Mishap;
Owned Shop on Dexter

OBITUARIES

Elias Botkin, 57, owner of Boston
Tea and Coffee Shop on Dexter
and Boston Blvd., was killed in a
freak accident on the John Lodge
Freeway Saturday night.
Mr. Gotkin, 19911 Strathmoor,
was helped to the side of the free-
way by two motorists when his car
at Monica on the westbound por-
tion. Police say he p a n i c k e d,
jumped out of the car and ran
across the freeway. He crossed the
median and was struck and killed
by an eastbound car.
The two motorists who had as-
sisted the victim drove away.
There were no leads as to their
whereabouts.
Born in Poland, Mr. Botkin lived
in Detroit 30 years. He was a mem-
ber of Farband, Labor Zionist Or-
der, and was well versed in both
Yiddish and Hebrew.
He is survived by his wife, Toby;
two sons, Joseph and Leon; two
brothers in New York and a sister
in Israel.
