Rep. John D. Dingell, who
grew up in Congress, who learned
about lawmaking at the family
dinner table from his New Deal
father, the late Rep. John D. Din-
gell, Sr., and in the House of
Representatives directly by serv-
ing as a House Page during his
teen-age years, 1938 to 1942, now
is a candidate for re-election in the
16th District.
Congressman Dingell repre-
sented the 15th Michigan Con-
gressional District since 1955.
Under Michigan's 1964 Congres-
sional districting changes, the old
15th District has been divided.
Dingell this year is running for
Democratic nomination in the new
16th Congressional District, newly
created of parts of the old 15th
and 16th districts. It c o v e r s
Southwest D e t r o it, Dearborn,
Gibraltar, Wyandotte, Ecorse.
River Rouge, Riverview, Trenton,
Southgate , Brownstown and
Grosse Ile Townships. The pri-
mary election is Sept 1.
Dingell is one of the strongest
supporters of Zionism and of
Israel in Congress.
Dingell, at 37, is the youngest
Member of the Michigan Con-
gressional Delegation.
He is a graduate of Georgetown
University and Georgetown Uni-
versity Law School, and is an
overseas veteran of World War
II. He entered the Army as a
private and was discharged as a
second lieutenant. He worked
as Research Assistant to United
States Circuit Judge Theodore
Levin, served as Assistant Prose-
cuting Attorney of Wayne County,
and has been a practicing attorney
since 1952.

Circuit Court Judge Benjamin
Burdick has been granted the
right to have designation "Judge"
on the ballot at the November elec-
tion.
The ruling was made Monday by
Judge Marvin Salmon of the In-
gram County Circuit Court, in a
case that was started in behalf of
Judge Burdick versus the secre-
tary of state and the Election
Commission. Judge Burdick was
represented by attorney Jason
Honigman.
