Herzl in Solemn Ceremony JERUSALEM (JTA) — The re- mains of Vladimir Jabotinsky, brought to Israel from the United States, were finally laid to rest atop Mount Herzl here after solemn ceremonies in which many of Jabotinsky's comrades joined leaders of the Israel government in paying respects to the memory of the founder and leader of Re- visionist Zionism. As the bier bearing the Jabotin- sky remains was placed in In- dependence Square here, after being brought from Tel Aviv, President Zalman Shazar was first to pass by the coffin. Many thousands of Israelis lined the streets of the city as the pro- cession started from Independence Square toward Mount Herzl. A guard of honor surrounded the coffin. The guard included Justice Itzhak Olshin, president of Israel's Supreme Court, who had been a sergeant in the Jewish Legion, serving with Jabotinsky. Many spectators were turned away when the cortege reached Mount Herzl, only about 2,000 being permitted to participate in the final rites. Acting Prime Minister Abba Eban led the official governmental party, followed by members of the Cabinet, Parlia- ment, the Supreme Court and Rabbi Aryeh Levin, known during the final mandate period as "the prisoners' rabbi." The pallbearers were leading members of the Herut Party. Members of Israel's defense forces presented arms as the coffin was lowered. President Shazar placed the first shovel full of soil atop the coffin. A cantor chanted the Kad- dish, with the entire group of dignitaries repeating the prayer, after which the Kaddish was re- cited again this time by Prof. Eri Jabotinsky, son of the Re- visionist leader. Speaker Kaddish Luz, in an hour- long address, paid tribute to the memory of the Zionist leader. The speaker said that despite sharp ideological differences which still prevailed, the achievements of Jabotinsky sufficed to make his name eternal as one of the chosen leaders of the era who contributed much to the return to Zion and to Israel's revival. Cabinet mem- bers and members of the Jabotin- sky family attended the special Knesset session. The coffins had been placed in state in Tel Aviv after being brought from Lydda Airport. Menahem Beigin, leader of the Herut Party, led a group of 300 persons which received the coffins at the Lydda Airport when they arrived from New York. * * * Mexican Jewry Honors Memory of Revisionist MEXICO CITY (JTA)—A mass meeting honoring the memory of Vladimir Jabotinsky, late leader of the Zionist-Revisionists Move- ment, was held here Sunday night. of virtually Representatives every Jewish and Zionist organiza- tion in Mexico, and of the Israeli Embassy here, participated in the rites.
