The request was voiced by a delegation of Belgian Jewish lead- ers who participated in a confer- ence on the situation of the Jews in the Soviet Union. The delega- tion was led by Max Gottschalk, president of the conference, and included Paul Philippson, presi- dent of the Central Jewish Con- sistory, as well as Chief Rabbi Robert Dreyfuss. The text of the conference reso- lution urging Belgian intervention on behalf of Soviet Jews was presented to Premier Lefevre, who promised that he would for- ward it to his government at a meeting of the council of min- isters.
