Geisz-Meth Vows
Are Solemnized

MRS. DUANE GEISZ

G-oldalee Meth became the bride
of Duane Geisz at Temple Israel
Sunday, with Rabbi M. Robert
Syme and Cantor Harold Orbach
officiating. The couple are the
children of Mr. and Mrs. David
Meth, 18917 Jeanette, Southfield,
and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Geisz,
24707 Templar, Southfield.
The bride wore a gown of ivory
peau de soie with fitted cummer-
bund and open neckline of Alen-
con lace. The detachable bateau
chapel train was appliqued in gar-
lands of matching lace, and the
bride wore a mantilla of ivory
silk illusion and Alencon lace. She
carried her confirmation Bible
covered with Phalaenopsis orchids.
Matron of honor was Mrs. Neil
Goodman of Oak Park, and brides-
maids were Mrs. Jerry Joseph and
Diane Geisz, the bridegroom's sis-
ter.
Emory Geisz of Los Angeles
served his brother as best man.
Ushers were Edward Meth, the
bride's brother; Lawrence Harris
of Royal Oak; and Samford Por-
vin.
After a Miami Beach honey-
moon, the couple will live at 1219
Farnum, Royal Oak. -

NY Yeshiva to Build

Rockefeller Stand on Middle East Related by Gervasi

Although practically out of the
running, New York's Governor
Nelson Rockefeller remains one
of the leading personalities in our
political arena and his views are
certain to be
reckoned with.
That is w h y
"The Real Rock-
efeller" by Frank

ed by Atheneum,

major signifi-
cance.
Rockefeller
His differences
with Goldwater, the divorce prob-
lem, his popularity, his leadership
qualities—these and many other
factors enter into this splendid
evaluation of one of America's
leading figures.
Completed before Rockefeller
virtually was removed from the
presidential race, this evaluation
of a distinguished leader retains
its value in the study of American
politics.
Rockefeller is described as one

BEEF AND VEGETABLE SALAD
2 teaspoons white vinegar
1 ,4 cup vegetable oil
IA teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon paprika
I/8 teaspoon sugar
1 /8 teaspoon kosher steak sauce
1/16 tsp. black pepper
1/16 teaspoon garlic powder
2 cups diced, cold cooked beef
1 /2 cup diced, cold cooked
potatoes
1/2 cup canned diced beets
1 /2 green pepper, finely diced
1 hard-cooked egg. diced
1 /4 cup well-drained sweet pickle
relish
About 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
Lettuce
In a mixing bowl place the vinegar,
oil, salt, paprika, sugar, steak sauce, pep-
per, and garlic powder. Beat until
blended. Remove all fat and gristle from
the meat, cut it into 1/2-inch dice, then
measure it. Peel the potatoes and cut
into 1/2-inch dice. Drain the beets thor-
oughly before measuring. This is import-
ant, as the liquid would make the salad
too watery. Add the beef, potatoes,
beets, green pepper, egg, and relish to
the dressing in the mixing bowl. Stir
gently to coat all the pieces, then cover
the bowl and refrigerate at least one
hour. Gradually add just enough may-
onnaise to moisten—very little is need-
ed. Pile the salad on lettuce in one
large salad bowl, or in 4 individual
bowls. This amount serves 4.
SEASIDE SALAD
2 cups diced, boiled halibut
2 cups cooked small macaroni shells
IA cup sliced pimento-stuffed green
olives
1 cup sliced celery
1 1-lb. can grapefruit sections
114 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons chili sauce
Lettuce
1 teaspoon well-drained white
horseradish
Additional whole, stuffed green
olives as garnish
Salt and pepper to taste
In a mixing bowl place the halibut,
macaroni shells, olives, and celery. The
shells may be slightly cooled or cold.
Drain the grapefruit sections thoroughly,
reserve 2 tablespoons of the juice, and
cut the sections into bite-size pieces. Add
them to the halibut mixture. Blend the
mayonnaise, the reserved grapefruit
juice, chili sauce, and horseradish. Stir
lightly into the salad. Taste, and add
salt and pepper as desired. Cover the
howl, and refrigerate at least one hour.
Pile the salad on lettuce, either in one
large bowl or in 5 individual howls. Gar-
nish with the additional whole olives.
This amount makes 5 portions.
Halibut is suggested for this salad be-
cause of its fine, firm texture, but if
preferred. other white-fleshed fish steaks
may be substituted. Fresh salmon, with
its distinctive flavor and pink color, can
he used when you wish to create an in-
teresting variation of this salad.

Republican Party." Gervasi con-
curs in the description of him
as "the best and most modern-
minded Republican."
Of major interest in the Ger-
vasi story is the account given of
Rockefeller's role in the Middle
East issue. He had opposed Dulles,
and his biographer refers to his
having "become involved in efforts
to keep Russia from getting a Med-
iterranean foothold in Egypt."
Gervasi indicates that Rockefel-
ler "felt that if Nasser became a
customer for Communist weapons,
this would not only extend Soviet
influence but also heighten the
dangers to Middle East peace in
general, and to Israel's security in
particular."
Rockefeller's views as they
emerged from this position, were
to "help Egypt attack its basic
problems of hunger, poverty, ur-
ban unemployment, peasant land-
lessness and widespread disease,"
and he began pushing the idea of
the West regaining its influence in
the Middle East by helping Nasser
in the building of the Aswan dam.
It was one of the serious issues on

sivta signed a contract for building

witz School in the Flatbush section

which he differed with Dulles.
Gervasi's story of a noted lead-
er's view on world affairs brings
into the picture many of the pres-
ent American personalities and this
biography emerges as a valuable
political document for our time.
