Like Son, Like Mother —
Oak Park 'Team' Gets
Two Bachelor Degrees

When Larry Loewenthal of Oak
Park entered college four years
ago, his father laughingly said to
his mother: "Rene, why don't you
keep Larry company?"
The idea took root. Larry and
his mother, whose looks belie her
43 years, recently received their
diplomas from Wayne State Uni-
versity.
The only mother-son team among
more than 2,200 graduates, she
received a bachelor of science in
education, and he received a
a bachelor of science degree in
preparation for the WSU College
of Medicine.
The Larry Loewenthals of
Rosemary Ave., belong to Young
Israel Center of Oakwoods and
are active in the center's ac-
tivities as a family. Loewenthal,
owner of Hamilton Home Im-
provement, earned a "degree"
at the same time: Look Maga-
zine-NHIC award for design and
construction excellence for addi-
tion to existing structure. His is
the only firm in Michigan ever
to win this award.
To celebrate the triple joy plus
a 25th wedding anniversary, the
Loewenthals are going to Israel
for the entire month.
