Bonn Told Of
`Deterioration -
of Relations

teachers also reported that Israelis
found West German official expla-
nations on these matters uncon-
vincing.
Dr Schmid reported that he
found the same complaints. He
emphasized that Israelis — both
government officials and the na-
tion at large—are worried about
the German rocket scientists in
Nasser's employ. "The fear is very
great," he added.
"Israelis are worried about an-
nihilation." He expressed the hope
that the West German parliament
would approve a Social Democra-
tic proposal enabling the Bonn
government to take action against
German experts helping to pro-
duce weapons to be used in a
war of aggression.
Regarding the establishment of
diplomatic relations, Dr. Schmid
said he did not expect Chancellor
Erhard's government to take such
action in the near future. Instead,
he suggested, West Germany could
move toward diplomatic ties with
Israel by a series of lesser steps.

LONDON (JTA) — The Bonn
government is contemplating in-
viting Egyptian President Nasser
to visit West Germany, it was re-
ported here in the Sunday Ob-
server. Commenting on the re-
port, the paper said that such a
visit would be "embarrassing" in
a number of ways.
"In the first place," the paper
declare d, "Israel would be
thoroughly suspicious and the
matter might well be added to
the affair of the German rocket
technicians in Cairo to make up
charges of German plotting with
Israel's enemies."
The foreign office announced
that Britain has made no formal
representations to West Germany
about reports concerning the pos-
sible visit by Nasser.
It was believed here, however,
that the Bonn government has
been informed that British govern-
ment would not like such a visit
by Nasser to be timed close to the
visit to West Germany by Queen
Elizabeth next year.
