During the Sinai Campaign, as
commander of the Northern Ar-
mored Attacking Force, Laskov
broke through at Rafah and cap-
tured El Arish to seal off the Gaza
Strip. He was named chief of
staff of the Israel Army in 1957.
Geula Gill and her trio have
appeared in concerts in the lead-
ing cities of the United States and
South America. They sing the folk
songs of Israel that reflect the
many cultures and heritages
brought to the young nation from
all over the world.

A goal of 81.000,000 in cash by

Gen. Laskov commanded a bat-

Italy during World War II. His
greatest military exploits were
achieved in Israel's War of Liber-

the War of Liberation he com-
manded a battalion which cleared
the road to Jerusalem and brought
food, water and supplies to the
besieged city. He also led an ar-

against the Arab stronghold at
Latrun.
