feel like
driving downtown everytime he
and wife Betty wanted a "Coney
Island Hotdog" . . so he just
upped and opened his own place
in the northwest! . . . Its next
door to Dave's Fame Cleaners on
W. McNichols and Murray Hill
. . . opened daily until 3 a.m.-
Sundays 12 to 2 . .. Dave's slogan
of "Just like downtown" isn't just
a few idle words . . . The hot dogs
and hamburgers are good — and
without the long ride they're extra
good! . Dave calls his place
"Little Island Coney" . . . and
also serves breakfast, lunches,
open steak sandwiches and after-
theater snacks.
NEW LOOK AT the Roostertail
offers colorful and modernistic
decor, plus huge picture window
walls that look out across the De-
troit River . . . Entire room and
bar has been revamped also.
RON SILBERMAN has been
pushed into having a dinner menu
at his Taverne In The Town, and
so as of Monday, May 11, the new
policy will begin . . . Also as of
this date, the hours will expand
to open at 11 and close at 1 a.m.
. . He's doing a wonderful lunch
business between 11 and 2 p.m,
WELL, KOSHER mothers being
taken out on Mother's Day have
their place to go with dinners
being served at Imperial Terrace
on Wyoming . . . and a big sigh
of relief probably comes from
those taking mom out on her day.
(What about the sigh -that mom
will give from not being forced to
order fish!)

WHEN YOU BUY WINE, 1175
well to remember that a fine

domestic wine is superior to an
obscure imported wine offered
as a "bargain." . . . Foreign
origin is no guarantee of excel-
lence.
SOL AND LENORE STONE can
read you the menu backward and
forward at Hoa Kow Inn on Nine
Mile Rd. in Oak Park . . and
being gourmets of Chinese and
Cantonese food this is a high rest
oramendation for Hoa Kow . .
We've eaten there many times and
along with Sol and Lanore, enjoy
many of their tasty dishes.
AL ROSENBERG'S Holid a II
Manor strictly kosher restaurant
and catering emporium on W. 8
Mile Rd. will definitely open in
May . . . A lot of pleasant surprises
in store . . . especially the down-
to-earth prices!
SURE THERE'S such a drink
as a King's Peg . . . Place a
piece of ice in a large wine
glass ... Pour one jigger brandy
and fill with iced champagne.

average of 24,000 people a week?
. , . Considered by many as the
restaurant showplace of the mid-
dlewest, Darbys employs 120
people, seats 375 and caters to
folks from all walks of life.
