Pioneer Women's Council Planning
Millionaires' Party to Benefit Youth

Launching the first phase of a
three-fold program on behalf of
World Jewish Child's Day, Mrs.
Milton Weiss, president of Detroit
Council of Pioneer Women, an-
nounces its annual Millionaire's
Party 8:30 p.m.
Saturday at the
Labor Zionist
Institute.
Chairing the
first in a series
of fund - raising
events is Mrs.
Norman Leemon,
past president of
Detroit Council,
who stated that
Mrs. Leemon this year's event
will have a greater variety of
booths and diversified foods and
homemade pastries.
Special attraction will be the
awarding of a round-trip ticket to
Israel or a $500 U. S. Savings
Bond. Other prizes will be given
all through the evening.
World Jewish Child Day, orig-
inally dedicated to commemorate
the deaths of 1.5 million Jewish
children by the Nazis, now serves
as a means of furthering the activ-
ities of Pioneer Women's Child
Rescue Program for Youth Aliyah.
Through this program over 90,-
000 children have been brought to
Israel from 75 countries, and
training centers, scholarship funds,
fellowships for advanced study,
agricultural centers and vocational

LOUIS D. BRANDEIS LODGE
will hold its initiation of new
members 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the
Sholem Aleichem Institute. Mem-
bers of the degree team are Harry
Katz, past president of both lodge
and Detroit Bnai Brith Men's Coun-
cil; Ben Berkley and Sam Dubrin-
sky lodge past presidents. Awards
and citations will be presented to
members who have done outstand-
ing work on behalf of the lodge
and the order. Refreshments will

Declaration of Independence, Is-
raeli songs by vocalist Mrs. Morris
Plafkin and two poems concerning
slavery and freedom read by
Silverman.

Plans Premiere

Two benefit performances of the
comedy-thriller "From Russia With
Love," sponsored by the Married
Group of Temple Beth El, will be
held at the Studio-8 Theatre 7:45
and 9:45 p.m. Tuesday.
Fred Schatz, general chairman,
announced the premier of this pic-
ture in the Detroit area also would
be the grand opening performance
for the theatre, located in the
Greenfield-8 Mile Shopping Cen-
ter across from Northland.
