To Fit A
Pair of Feet

"Children's feet come in all
shapes and sizes," noted J. Alvoy
Jones, manager of the HACK
SHOE STORE at 19360 Livernois,
"but we have the sizes to fit
all of them. Imagine our widths
for first walkers: A, B, C, D, E,
EE, EEE and EEEE ! And, if
needed, we can make them up
in EEEEE.
"This makes it easy to fit each child correctly so that
growing feet can develop properly," he concluded.
Mr. Jones, a graduate of the Detroit Institute of Tech-
nology and a Korean War Veteran, heads a staff of experi-
enced shoe fitters who are dedicated to quality, fit and
service — in the 48-year-old HACK tradition.
There are other HACK SHOE STORES: Downtown on the
5th Floor of the Mutual Building at 28 W. Adams Ave.; at 16633
East Warren Ave.; and at 235 Pierce Street in Birmingham.

Mayor Proclaims
April 'Cancer
Control Month'

April has been proclaimed
"Cancer Control Month" in De-
troit by Mayor Jerome P. Ca-
vanagh.
In his proclamation, t h e
Mayor urged Detroit citizens to
learn facts vital to personal
protection from the disease. He
also called for increased finan-
cial support of research, service
and educational programs of
the American Cancer Society.
The society's annual door-to-
door educational and fund-rais-
ing drive is next Wednesday.
Mayor Cavanagh acknowledg-
ed that more than 1.2 million
Americans are alive and cured
of cancer in large measure due
to the programs of the Ameri-
can Cancer Society.
It has been estimated that
this year 88,000 Americans will
die needlessly of cancer because
of ignorance, neglect and delay
in visiting physicians for
prompt diagnosis and treatment.
