will join in sponsoring a lunch-

the visit of Dr. Maurice N.
Eisendrath, president of the
Union of American Hebrew

Rabbinical College
Dedicated in Rome

ROME, (JTA)—The new home
of the Italian Rabbinical College
was dedicated here in a cere-
mony with presence of Italian
Jewish leaders from all parts of
Italy.
The building, which also
houses several Jewish institu-
tions, was erected with the fin-
ancial aid of the Joint Distribu-
tion Committee and the Confer-
ence on Jewish Material Claims
Against Germany.
Chief Rabbi Elio Toaff stress-
ed the spiritual importance of
the college at the ceremony. Of-
ficials of the Israeli Embassy,
and of the JDC and the World
Jewish Congress attended the
ceremony.

among its leadership.
The luncheon, under the
chairmanship of Leslie R.
Schmier, past president of
Temple Israel and a member
of the UAHC national board,
is sponsored by the Combined
Campaign committees of the
five participating temples.
Sydney Sarasohn, president
of Temple Beth El and a na-
tional vice chairman of the
Combined Campaign, said the
luncheon will provide impetus
for the annual drive in support
of the institutions of Reform
Judaism, the UAHC and the
Hebrew Union College-Jewish
Institute of Religion.
According to Schmier, the
campaign will continue through
Shavuot, and will seek the sup-
port of every member of a Re-
form temple, as well as others
in the community.
Over one million American
Jews are affiliated with the
Reform movement through the
UAHC, which was founded in
1873 by Rabbi Isaac Mayer
Wise. The Hebrew Union Col-
lege was founded two years
later and was the first rabbini-
cal seminary to he created in
this country.
In addition to Temple Beth
El and Temple Israel, other
temples sponsoring the April 9
luncheon are Temple Emanu-El
Temple Beth Am, Livonia; and
Temple Beth El, Windsor.
