Julius Chajes, director of the Jewish Center Music School,
will present Gordon Goodman, 14-year-old pianist, in recital 3
p.m. Sunday in the Center's Music Room. Gordon, son of Dr. and
Mrs. Daniel Goodman, was winner in the Junior High School
Piano Contest sponsored by the Michigan Music Teachers Associ-
ation in East Lansing. He has been invited to play at the spring
convention March 31.
Howard Landsman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Berger of
Gardner Ave., Oak Park, is a recipient of the William J. Brans-
ten Freshman Prize, an annual award to University of Michigan
students who, in their first semester, are in the upper 7 per cent
of their class. This prize will be presented at a special convoca-
tion May 8. He was graduated from Oak Park High School with
honors in June and is in the University of Michigan College of
Engineering.
Ellen Panush, daughter of Bernard and Anne Panush of
Roselawn Ave., is a recipient of the William J. Branston Fresh-
man Prize, at the University of Michigan. She was graduated
from Mumford High School in June 1963 with Junior Phi Beta
Kappa honors. She was elected to the Alpha Lambda Delta
National Scholastic Society for freshmen women at the university.
Mrs. Halina Kronenberg, 13182 Stoepel, will leave by plane
Sunday afternoon for a six-week trip to South Amerca. She
plans to visit a brother and two sisters in Buenos Aires and her
brother-in-law in Sao Paulo.
