the Detroit Symphony Orchestra March 30, which will aid the

U.P. Site Donated
for Fresh Air Camp

Camp Kennedy, an 80-acre
site in the Upper Peninsula,
has been donated for the Fresh
Air Society's use by Edward C.
Levy. The site, named by Levy,
is lo c a t e d halfway between
Grand Marais and Munising, 15
miles from Lake Superior.
It is planned that the new
camp, donated to the United
Jewish Charities, will be used
by advanced girl pioneers and
voyager boy pioneers for one
week during each period of
the season. Extensive use will
be made gradually.
Active roles in planning for
the site were taken by Arnold
Agree, a director of the Fresh
Air Society, and Samuel Mar-
cus, executive director.
The camp includes a lodge.
cottage, garage, boat house,
tool shop and stable.

A group of etchings by Cha-
gall, part of the original ex-
hibit held in January at Grin-
nell Art Galleries, will be
shown 12:30 p.m. March 12 at
the Esther Berman Building of
the United Hebrew Schools.
Loretta B. Ruff, galleries co-
director, will present the show-
ing, sponsored by the UHS Wo-
men's Auxiliary. According to
Mrs. Ruff. the exhibit on "Cha-
gall and the Bible" is the first
such series of art works since
Michelangelo. Several private
collectors also will bring their
original Chagall works.
The public is invited, es-
pecially parents of Hebrew
school students, according to
Albert Elazar, superintendent.
Dessert luncheon will be serv-
ed.
Mrs. Isadore Goren, program
chairman, will make the intro-
ductions. President of the aux-
iliary is Mrs. Elbert Diamond.

4 Yiddish Performers
to Appear at Center in
Song, Humor Program

Four celebrities of the Yid-
dish stage and radio will ap-
pear at the Jewish Center
March 8 in a program of humor,
songs, and sketches. The artists
are on a nation-wide tour under
the auspices of the Workmen's
Circle.

on Dead Sea Scrolls

Dr. Abraham Spiro, head of
the department of Near Eastern
Languages and Literatures at
Wayne State University, will de-
liver a lecture in Hebrew on
the Dead Sea Scrolls 9 p.m.
Saturday at the Jewish Center.
The talk is sponsored by the
Hebrew Cultural Society, the
Kvutza Tyra,.
Dr. Spiro, who holds a Ph.D.
in Semitics from Columbia Uni-
versity, did his undergraduate
work at the Hebrew University
in Jerusalem.
