Dining Hall at Kfar Chabad, Israel, Honors William Hordes' Name Brenda Abramson Wed to Fred Rosen MRS. FRED ROSEN Brenda Elaine Abramson be- came the bride of Fred Rosen in a double-ring candlelight ceremony recently at the Ra- leigh House. Rabbi Fram and Cantor Orbach officiated. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Max Abramson of Ohio Ave. and the late Dr. Max Abramson. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. Sam Rosen of Chicago and the late Etta Rosen The bride wore a lo n g- sleeved gown of Alencon lace, with satin skirt and train. Her head was covered with a Spanish mantilla, and she c,,,r- ried a Bible trimmed with orchids and Stephanotis. Her attendants were her sis- ter Judi Abramson as maid of honor and another sister, Mrs. Burril Fine of Toledo as matron of honor. Sandra Rosen, sister of the bridegroom, was bridesmaid. Jack Rosen, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. Dr. Burril Fine and Bob Siegal of Chicago were ushers. After a honeymoon in Puerto Rico the couple will live in Chicago. A large dining hall for stu- dents attending the vocational schools at Kfar Chabad, Israel, will bear the names of Mr. and I Mrs. William Hordes. Mr. Hordes will be guest of honor at the annual dinner of the Merkos L'Inyonei Chinuch (Chabad Lu- bavitch), Monday, Feb. 24, at the Labor Zionist Institute. He is being honored on his 70th birthday for his dedicated serv- ice to Jewish causes and espe- cially to the Chabad Movement. Mr. and Mrs. Hordes were in Kfar Chabad on their recent visit to Israel and were greatly impressed by the growth of the settlement and, especially, of the vocational schools. More than 6,000 students attend the Chabad schools in Israel. The vocational schools specialize in training students in agriculture, carpentry and printing. A new, large printing plant has been established there. Besides the Hordes gift, De- troiters have take the lead in the development of Kafar Cha- bad. He studied in the Real Gymnasium and in the Yeshivah of his home town and was a student of the famous Rabbi Volozhiner. Coming to the United States on Jan. 10, 1914, Hordes worked at various jobs and studied to acquire the language and cul- ture of this country. He entered the insurance business in 1919. He was married to Bela Sava- lewitz in 1917. They have two sons, Earl, in the insurance busi- ness here, and Herbert of Herz- , lian, Israel, who is one of the founders of the Supersol Israel supermarkets, and a daughter, Mrs. Edward Wishnetsky.
