Wins Interfaith Medal

NEW YORK, (JTA) — The
Gold Medal of the National. In-
terfaith Movement was pre-
sented to New York City Comp-
troller Abraham D. Beame at a
ceremony in his office at the
Municipal Building. The pre-
sentation was made by Dr.
Herman P. Mantell, president
of the interfaith movement.

Tree planting is the order of the day in Israel—by the
children in Israel and by their young friends in the Diaspora
who contribute towards afforestation programs of the Jewish
National Fund. The photo shows Israeli children planting a
new tree on Tu b'Shevat, the Jewish New Year of the Trees,
in Israel. In all schools in Detroit, the children are contributing
to the JNF tree-planting fund.
