NEW YORK (JTA)-Dr. Ne-
hemiah Robinson, director of
the World Jewish Congress In-
stitute for Jewish Affairs, and
one of the foremost authorities
on the Nazi holocaust, died Jan.
11 at the age of 65.
Born in Lithuania, Dr. Robin-
son came to the United States
in 1940, joined the staff of the
World Jewish Congress in 1941,
and later became an American
citizen. He worked closely with
the Conference on Jewish Ma-

Post Office Official,
Louis Stovak, Dies

Louis Stovak, 21111 Kenosha,
Oak Park, died Jan. 15, in Sinai
Hospital.
Mr. Stovak was assistant
superintendent of the Linwood-
Joy post office branch. He was
a native Detroiter.
Mr. Stovak was a member of
the Bnai Brith and a past presi-
dent of the Clinton School Par-
ent Teacher Association.
He is survived by his wife,
Jeanette; a son, Sidney; two
daughters, Sim and Judy; two
brothers and a sister.

Anglo-Yiddish Actor,
Henry Schacht, Dead

NEW YORK, (JTA)-Henry
Schacht, well-known actor on
the English and Yiddish stage
and former high school teacher
of languages, is dead at age 77.
Schacht, who was known pro-
fessionally as Henry Sharp, also
appeared in leading roles in
films.
A member of a theatrical
family which immigrated from
Russia, he made his first ap-
pearance on Broadway in 1914.
In 1921 he played on the Yid-
dish stage with prominent Yid-
dish actor Boris Thomashevsky
in the production "Hatikvah" as
guest artist.
Broadway productions in
which he appeared included
"Arsenic and Old Lace," "On
Borrowed Time," and "Oh Men!
Oh, Women!"
The films in which he played
included "A Song to Remem-
ber" and "A Face in the Crowd."

Former Union Editor
Succumbs in New York

NEW YORK, (JTA)-Max D.
Danish, editor and author, died
here Saturday at 77. Born in
Russia and educated in this
country, Danish was associated
for 40 years, until his retire-
ment in 1951, with the Interna-
tional Ladies Garment Workers
Union, as public relations direc-
tor and as editor of the union's
principal organ, Justice.
He was the author of a num-
ber of books, including a his-
tory of the ILGWU, a biogra-
phy of David Dubinsky, that
union's president, and a biogra-
phy of William Green, late
president of the American Fed-
eration of Labor.
Danish was, himself, formerly
a member of the ILGWU and
a participant in some of the
union's early strikes, in 1909
and 1910. He received a law de-
gree from New York University
in 1918.

LOS ANGELES, (JTA)-Re-
tired Municipal Court Judge
Louis M. Kaufman, 66, died
here. He was active in Jewish
communal aairs.

Harry Parr Dead at .53

Harry Parr, a Detroit resident
43 years and active in Jewish
affairs, died Monday at the age
of 53.
Mr. Parr, 23120 Sussex, Oak
Park, was born in Winnipeg,
Man. He was a supervisor at
Sam's Inc., and was a member
of Downtown Lodge, Bnai Brith;
and Cong. Bnai David.
He is survived by his wife,
Nora; a son, Jerry; a daughter,
Mrs. Walter (Frankie) Fish;
three brothers, Jack, David and
Louis; two sisters, Mrs. Lillian
Owens of Beverly Hills, Calif.,
and Mrs. David Rosenbiat; and
four grandchildren.
