Friday, January 3, 1964—THE DETROIT JEWISH NEW S-16 $30,000 in Israel Bonds Sold at Hanukah, Victory Festival National Bank Buys $100,000 Israel Bonds Israel Bond subscriptions at the Hanukah victory festival in the Latin Quarter totaled $30,000, bringing the 1963 Detroit Israel Bond Campaign close to $1,700,000 in cash sales for the year. At the show, featured on the program, were from left: Tom Borman, general chairman of the Detroit Israel Bond Committee; Zigi Binor, Israeli accordion virtuoso; Max Sosin, M.C. at the affair which drew a capacity audience; Renee, Chicago singing star, and Emil Cohen, noted comedian. The National Bank of Detroit this week bought $100,000 in State of Israel Bonds. The National Bank purchase was effected through the efforts of Tom Borman, general chair- man of the Detroit Israel Bond Committee. The largest bank in the state and one of the leading banks in the midwest, the National Bank of Detroit is a corre- spondent bank of the Bank Leumi of Israel. The action of the National Bank boosted the 1963 Isrgel Bond cash sales to $1,700,000— $400,000 more than the total for 1962. They have been bond buyers and active volunteer workers since the inception of the Israel Bond drive in 1951.
