the Zionist Federation of Great
Britain.
Edited by Dr. Joseph Liton,
with the assistance of Shaindy
Mason, the current British Zion-
ist year book is especially note-
worthy for the important direc-
tories that make it possible for
the readers to know how to con-
tact Zionist leaders everywhere,
containing lists of Israeli Con-
sulates, members of the Israel
Cabinet and other similar list-
ings to which people in public
life must refer frequently.-
The calendars are valuable
not only for the dates given and
the Torah readings but also the
explanatory notes appended on
parallel pages for each Hebrew
month.
Josef Fraenkel is the au-
thor of an impressive 32-page
list of Hebrew and civil dates
—"Every Day in Jewish His-
tory" giving an account,
month by month, for the Jew-
ish and the civic calendars, of
the most important events in
Jewish history. This is, in it-
self, an outstanding feature
of the new year book.
Fraenkel also is the compiler
in this volume of the survey of
world Jewish affairs as they oc-
curred in the past year.
A breakdown of the world
Jewish population is followed
by lists of British Jewish organ-
izations and movements. Of
value to Londoners is the long
list of London Zionist societies,
and following them is a list of
provincial Zionist societies, as
well as a listing of British Jew-
ish organizations.

Chaim Weizmann is viewed
as the "champion of cultural
Zionism" in a tribute, on the
10th anniversary of his death,
by Dr. I. S. Fox.
There are a number of biog-
raphical sketches of noted Jew-
ish personalities and there are
tributes to a number of impor-
tant people who passed away
during the year, including two
non-Jews, Queen Wilhelmina
and Malcolm Hay.
A long Who's Who of promi-
nent British Jews is of particu-
lar interest to the British read-
ers.
El Al to Start Talks
in U.S. on Acquiring
Supersonic Aircraft
TEL AVIV, (JTA)—Two key
El Al National Airlines officials
left for the United States to
open negotiations for the pur-
chase of supersonic planes now
being developed by the Ameri-
can aviation industry.
Director Ephraim Nen Artzi
and his deputy, Shlomo Lahav
were invited by the United
States Civil Aeronautics Author-
ity. The Israeli airline has been
offered an option to apply for
the $20,000,000 aircraft which is
expected to be operative from
1970 on.
