The annual Balfour concert,
sponsored by the Zionist Or-
ganization of Detroit, to be
presented this Sunday eve-
ning at Ford Auditorium, fea-
turing Isaac Stern, violinist,
with the Detroit Symphony Or-
chestra directed by Valter
Poole, may be a complete sell-
out, Carmi M. Slomovitz,
chairman of the yearly event,
reported at the champagne
supper party for sponsors held
at the home of the Henry Par-
isers. Among the active
women who participated in
the year's formal party that
traditionally precedes the con-
cert were, from the left:

SHOLEM ALEICHEM LODGE
will be officially instituted at a
dinner 6:30 p.m. Dec. 8 at the
Sholem Aleichem Institute. Par-
ticipating in the institution of
the lodge, initiation of its mem-
bers and installation of its first
slate of officers will be Julius
Kahn, president of the Metro-
politan Detroit Bnai Brith Coun-
cil; Milo Rappaport and Maur-
ice Zeiger, members of the dis-
trict board of governors; Alfred
H. Bounin, past president of
the Council; and Hy Crystal, ex-
ecutive director of Bnai Brith
in Michigan. Heading the lodge
as its president in the first year
will be Harry Kaminer. Alex
Gottlieb is first vice-president
and Philip Kaplan, second vice-
president. Israel Fischhoff is
recording secretary, Meier K.
Rosenthal, corresponding sec-
