JERUSALEM, (JTA) — The
Hebrew University announced
that a Chair of Biblical Studies
has been endowed at the uni-
versity in memory of Dr. Yehez-
kiel Kaufmann, late Professor
of Bible, by Mr. and Mrs. Clar-
ence W. Efroymson of Carmel,
Indiana.
The Efroymsons gave $150,000
for the endowment. The an-
nouncement was made at a
Kaufmann memorial meeting
held at the university.

munity maintains some 300
Jewish community centers in
cities throughout the country
with a total membership of
nearly 700,000.

Mr. and Mrs. Bernard White-
man of Giles Blvd., Windsor, an-
nounce the engagement of their
daughter, Judith Ann, to Jerry
Eskin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry
Eskin of Lauder Ave.
The bride-elect is a senior at
Wayne State University and her
fiance is a graduate of the
Wayne School of Business Ad-
ministration. A June 14 wed-
ding is planned.

Harold S. Norman
Breaks Records for
Provident Insurance

Provident Life & Accident In-
surance Company announced that
Harold S. Norman has broken
all production records for any
three-month period in the his-
tory of the company. His paid
production exceeded $3,000,000
in the third quarter of 1963. His
premiums were in excess of
$100,000. His personal produc-
tion for the first nine months
was over $5,000,000 of new busi-
ness.

Norman is considered a na-
tional authority on corporation
and pension and profit-sharing
insurance. He is a qualifying
and a life member of the Mil-
lion Dollar Round Table, a
member of the Detroit Life
Underwriters and the General
Agents and Management Asso-
ciation.

He is unusually active in civic
and charitable activities. Norman
is co-chairman of the Service
Division of the Jewish Welfare
Federation, a member of the
board of directors. of the Detroit
Service Group, trustee of the
Jewish Vocational Service, past
commander of Jewish War Vet-
erans — Lawrence Jones Post;
past commander of the Ameri-
can Legion Post; member of the
V.F.W.; board member and
chairman of the membership
committee of Temple Beth El's
Men's Club; member of the
Variety Club's Growth and De-
velopment Center for Children's
Hospital; Knollwood Country
Club and the Standard City Club,
the Detroit Economic Club;
Chamber of Commerce; a past
chairman of the Torch Fund
Insurance Division and other
organizations.
He is married to Marjorie and
has two children and resides at
18600 Wildemere with offices at
1400 Guardian Building.
