at Cochtail Supper, Wednesday

The leading social event of
the year has been set for next
Wednesday at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Henry Pariser. Taking
the form of a cocktail supper,
preceding the 31st annual Bal-
four Concert to be held at
Ford Auditorium, Dec. 1, the
concert will feature Isaac Stern,
one of America's foremost vio-
linists, and the Detroit Sym-
phony Orchestra under the
baton of Valter Poole.
The black tie cocktail sup-
per on Wednesday, hosted by
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Pariser,
will honor the numerous spon-
sors and the work the Zionist
Organization of Detroit is doing
in behalf of Israel and Ameri-
can Jewry.
The hosts expressed the hope
that many additional Detroiters
will enroll as sponsors of this
year's concert.

completed residence hall com-
plex at Brandeis, has been
named in honor of Nathan
S h a p i r o, Swampscott, Mass.;
Joseph Shapiro, Baltimore, Md.;
Samuel S. Shapiro, Brookline,
Mass.; and the late Isaac Sha-
piro of Chicago, by their chil-
dren. _

The first meeting of the newly
oragnized Betya Chapter of Miz-
rachi Women will be held 8:30
p.m. Tuesday at the home of
Mrs. James Gordon, 13694 Wales,
Oak Park.
The Betya Chapter is named
after the late Bessie Gottsfied,
and was organized at a recent
tea held at the home of Mrs.
Jacob Goldman by Mrs. Ruth
Sacks at Ramat Gan Israel, a
meber of the Israel executive of
Mizrachi Women.
All those present at the first
meeting will have the oppor-
tunity of becoming charter mem-
bers of the organization. Mrs.
Shlomo Sperka and Mrs. Reuven
Frankel will present a program
entitled, "The Integration of Art
and Music." Mrs. Sperka will
discuss various paintings as seen
through the eyes of the artist,
and Mrs. Frankel will interpret
the same through music. They
will be assisted by Judith Her-
man at the piano.

Lois Fern Desow was wed to
Dr. Jay Jacob Lorber on Oct. 20
at Adas Shalom Synagogue. The
