Dr. Joseph Burg, Israel's Min-
ister for Social Welfare, will
arrive in this
country Thurs-
day, for a five-
week tour of
Ame r i can
communities
in behalf of
the State of
Israel Bond
drive. Dr. Burg,
who last visit-
ed the United
States a year
ago, will be
taking part in
the final phase
of the 1963
Israel Bond
campaign in
Dr. Burg many key com-
munities which are now on the
verge of reaching new peaks of
achievement for Israel through
the Israel Bond drive.

LOUIS MARSHALL LODGE
will meet 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at
the Labor Zionist Institute. There
will be a birthday party for
members who were born this
month, announced Robert Israel,
president. Jerry Cooper, adult
Jewish education chairman, will
present a "Time for Torah" pro-
gram. Merwin Solomon will take
individual pictures of the birth-
day celebrants and present them
with color prints at the next
meeting. Refreshments will be
served and prospective members
are invited to attend.

Dr. SIDNEY NELSON, Direc-
tor of Joint Distribution Com-
mittee operations in France,
will arrive in this country Nov.
15 to report to American Jewish
communities on recent develop-
ments affecting Jewish refugees
in France, it was announced by
Moses A. Leavitt, JDC executive
vice-chairman.

one of the seven members of the
New Hampshire State Board of

gaged in a pro-
ject which con-
sists of

preparing for resettlement of
Gadot, a settlement on the banks
of the Jordan river, on the
Syrian border. This was part of
the Detroit Development Area,
which the local community ac-
cepted a year ago as its obliga-
tion for three years, to rebuild
and expand Gadot and Mishmar
Hayarden, two settlements on
the Syrian border in northern
Galilee, which bore the brunt
of, and were largely destroyed
by, Arab attacks in the War of
Independence in 1948. Nearly
one-third of its objective was
accomplished by the Auxiliary
as a result of last year's cam-
paign. "Because of the Commun-
ity's response," Mrs. Nosan said
that she was looking forward
"to even greater achievements
this year."
Mrs. Morris Kutinsky, presi-
dent of the Auxiliary, announc-
ed that the Nov. 19 meeting is
open to all friends of J.N.F. and
Israel. A dessert luncheon will
be served.

Joseph Jones Is
Picked as Member
of Legion Council

Appointment of Joseph Jones,
2240 W. Grand Blvd., as general
member of The American Le-
gion's National Security Council
has been announced by C. Oscar
Hammond, Commander of the
Michigan Department of The
American Legion.
Jones' appointment to this
high office in the American
Legion's national organization
was made by National Com-
mander Daniel F. Foley of Wa-
basha, Minn., and was cofirmed
by the National Executive Com-
mittee of the veteran's organi-
zation at its recent meeting in
Indianapolis, Ind.
"The appointment comes as
recognition of Legionnaire Jones'
many years of service in our
organization,'.' Department Com-
mander Hammond said.
