Since coming to Michigan in 1939, Mr. Romney has pro-

vided leadership in seeking solutions to the critical problems faced

by the State of Michigan. During World War 11, he helped to form

the Detroit Victory Council and, as the war neared its end, he was

active in facilitating post war recovery.

Governor Romney has given leadership to many civic efforts

and organizations including Citizens For Michigan, the Detroit

Citizens Advisory Committee on School Needs, the United Fund

and the Detroit Round Table of Christians and Jews.
