Haggai to Address Hashomer Hatzair Jeremiah Haggai, member of Kibbutz Ein Hashofet and one of the founders of Hashomer Hatzair in Detroit, will be the guest speaker at the opening meeting of Americans for Pro- gressive Israel—Hashomer Hat- zair 8:30 p.m. Oct. 26 at the Labor Zionist Institute. His topic will be "The Kibbutz in Israel and the Israel Labor Movement." Haggai, member of Kibbutz Ein Hashofet since 1936, served for four years in the Palestine regiment of the British army, three of them at GHQ, Cairo. He is a former news editor of the Israeli newspaper "Al-Ham- ishmar." A movie on Israel will be shown preliminary to the lecture. Following the talk and question period, a social hour is planned. The meeting is open to the public. The annual meeting of the Corporation of Sinai Hospital will be held 8:15 p.m. Nov. 25 in the hospital's main lecture hall, Nate S. Shapero, president of the board of trustees, an- nounced. Dr. Abraham Becker, prac- ticing Detroit physician, who has served for the last nine months as acting Chief of Medi- cine at Sinai, will address the gathering. At the last meeting of the nominating committee of the board, chairman George M. Stutz reported that the commit- tee unanimously voted to rec- ommend the following persons for five-year terms as trustees: Louis C. Blumberg, Irwin I. Cohn, Max M. Fisher, Morris Garvett, Charles Gershenson, Max Osnos, Nate S. Shapero and Abraham Srere. A board vacancy caused by the death of C. William Sucher also will be filled at the annual meeting. Stutz reported that the nominating committee unani- mously voted to recommend James Wineman. Shapero also announced the election of Melville S. Welt to life membership on the board for his "many years of devoted service to the hospital and North End Clinic." The community is invited to attend the meeting, to be fol- lowed by a reception.
