Friday, October 18, 1963—THE DETROIT JEWISH NEW S-20 Michigan Zionists Meet in Pontiac Nov. 3; Dr. Marks Guest Speaker The annual conference of the Michigan Region, Zionist Organization of America, will take place Sunday, Nov. 3, at Temple Beth Jacob in Pontiac, ac- cording to Morris M. Jacobs, honor- ary president of the region. Ten _ Michi- gan commun- ities will send Dr. Marks delegates to the one-day parley which will start with a brunch session at 12 noon and continue through the afternoon. Guest speaker at the brunch session, which will be open to the public, will be Dr. Sidney Marks, New York, national ex- ecutive director of the Zionist Organization of America. A former professor of law at New York Law S c h o o 1, Dr. Marks is a member of the New York Bar and is nationally recognized as a specialist in mass.: communications and as an authority on Israel and the Middle East. Dr. Marks recently returned from one of his fre- quent visits to Israel and the Jewish communities of Europe. He was one of the major speakers at the 66th national convention of the ZOA held in Israel this summer, and took part in top level conferences with Israeli leaders. The conference will review American-Israel relations and will offer a factual appraisal of Israel economic and security situation. A symposium on the theme "Zionist and Friend of Israel," with. the participation of four prominent panelists, will high- lght the afternoon sesion at 1:45 p.m. The significance of he recent ZOA Convention in Israel will be evaluated at a workshop session at 3 p.m., to be followed by committe re- ports and election of officers for the ensuing year. The Pontiac Zionist District will be host to the confernce. Serving on the Pontiac com- mittee are Rabbi Ernst J. Con- rad, Rabbi Israel Goodman, Thomas A. Horwitz and Joseph Jacobson. Mrs. Philip Hart to Moderate Panel at AJC Women's Affair Mrs. Philip A. Hart will serve as moderator for a panel discus- sion at the American Jewish Congress "Membership Dividend Affair" 12:30 p.m. Oct. 28 at the Jewish Center. Members of the panel will be Mrs. Leon- ard Kasle, Mrs. S. L. A. Mar- shall, Mrs. Wade McCree, Jr., and Mrs. Walter M i d- ener.
