asserted Wednesday.
He made the statement in a
radio interview on a special
French radio program beamed
to Europe, Canada and French-
speaking African countries. The
program, which was staged in
connection with International
Radio Week, also featured in-
terviews with United Nations
Secretary General U Thant,
U.S. Secretary of State Dean
Rusk and Algeria President
Ahmed Ben Bella. Premier Esh-
kol emphasized that Israel im-
ported twice as much from the
six Euromart nations as it ex-
ported to them and that Israel
had a right to expect that this
should be considered.
After months of negotiations,
Euromart negotiators rejected
Israel's request for special
trade agreements covering its
hundreds of exports to Euro-
mart countries and offered only
some minor concessions on
three relatively trivial Israeli
exports, a proposal Israel re-
jected. Renewed talks remain
to be arranged.

Jewish Premier
of Rhodesia Comments
on Mixed Marriages

WASHINGTON (JTA) —
Prime Minister Sir Roy Welen-
sky of the Federation of Rho-
desia and Nyasaland said here
that he knew the difficulties of
two religions in one household.
Commenting on interracial
marriage and the difficulties of
racial integration, during an
address - at the National Press
Club, Welensky said that he was
a Jew, married for 35 years to
a Christian lady. He termed
marriage an affair of individual
choice and indicated that his
own was a successful one.
The Prime Minister refused
to comment on Israeli differ-
ences with the Union of South
Africa over racism. He said
that he had enough troubles of
his own and did not wish to get
involved in the problems of
other nations.
