CELEBRATES

Daily Open Heart

Surgery Hailed!
Open heart surgery, a perfected opera-
tion less than a half dozen years old,
is now a common daily practise at the
City of Hope Medical Center located in
Duarte, California.

Another Step in City of Hope's March of
Medical Progress!

Hundreds of lives throughout the coun-
try are being extended each year
through :this skillful surgery.
Open heart surgery was achieved
through the introduction of a heart and
lung machine capable of taking over the
functions of the heart while corrective
measures were applied to the heart or
arteries. The City of Hope, a nonsectar-
ian institution, provides this medical
service at no charge whatsoever to needy
patients.
Long famous for its work in catastrophic
diseases, such as heart diseases and
cancer, the City of Hope brings new
hope for the suffering through its never
ending research;
Detroiters who have contributed to this
outstanding work will once again par-
ticipate in the Detroit Business Men's
annual champagne dinner dance com-
memorating the beginning of the second
half century of medical progress of the
City -of Hope, Sunday, November 3, at
the Sheraton Cadillac Hotel.
