Mrs. Gonte was born in Russia
and lived in Detroit for more
than 50 years. She was an or-
ganizer of the Ladies Lechem

the Jewish National Fund,
Odessa Progressive Aid Society,
Berdichev-Keshenev Aid Society,

Surviving is her husband of 52
years, Harry Gonte. Other sur-

Walter Strauss Dies

Retired furniture dealer Wal-
ter Franklin Strauss, 19145 Whit-
comb, died Sept. 29. He was 76.
Mr. Strauss was owner of the
Ferndale Furniture Store until
his retirement six years ago. He
