Wagner Commends
`Beyond Melting Pot'

Commenting on the challeng-
ing book "Beyond the Melting
Pot" by Nathan- Glazer and
Patrick Moynihan, published by
M. I. T. Press, Mayor Robert F.
Wagner of New York state:
"Messrs. Moynihan and Glazer
have written an important book
which is made more so by the
fact that it is eminently read-
able. It. reflects both social-
political scholarship and liter-
ary skill, telling difficult things
in an easy way.
"It is indeed a pioneer effort
to treat in depth the story of
the accommodation of the mi-
grants of the '50's—the Puerto
Ricans and southern Negroes—
to life in New York, and New
York City's reaction to this
great wave. The book does an
excellent, eye - opening a n d
thoughtful job. Although much
more needs to be said and writ:.
ten on this subject than is said
in "Beyond the Melting Pot,"
this book contributes substan-
tially to both our understanding
of the facts and of the problems
resulting from the facts. It is a
most valuable book. But above
all, it is a lively, challenging .. .
and digestible book."

Rokeach Co. Offers
Diverse Kosher
Products for Home

Gefilte fish, appetizingly dis-
played in glass jars, is today as
close to your dining table as
your neighborhood supermar-
ket, thanks to the pioneering
work carried out by the 90-year
old I. Rokeach & Company firm.
Rokeach startled the Kosher
household by the prepackaging

of a coconut oil based house-
hold soap back in 1870 — the
very first time a soap maker
ever gave attention to the spe-
cialized needs of those maintain-
ing Kosher households.
Israel Rokeach found his bus-
iness expanding and sensed im-
mediately a market existed for
convenience products zo ease
the hardships native to obeying
the traditional Jewish dietary
laws.
Rokeach today offers almost
three score of diverse Kosher
products from soap to soups.
