BEST WISHES
NEW YEAR

f or the.

and some thoughts on the years ahead

HELPING PERPETUATE A BETTER
WORLD. There is gratification in being able

to help one's fellow-man, whether it be for
today or the future generation.

A bit of immortality abides in every be-
quest and endowment to Federation : That is
because these are gifts which keep alive the
memory of a man, a woman, a family, a loved
one whose generosity is perpetuated and be-
comes a blessing for many generations.

Just as we are the beneficiaries of those
whose courage, foresight and charity built our
Jewish community and made it strong, those
who will benefit by our foresight and our
sense of community responsibility will be our
own children, our children's children and all
whom we hold dear.
Over the years, the Jewish Welfare Feder-
ation of Detroit and its institutions have re-
ceived a substantial number of legacies and
endowments. These funds have been used to
build, to rebuild and to expand Federation's
institutions and to carry on programs of social
work and to pioneer and improve health and
welfare services.

BEQUESTS AND ENDOWMENTS are

extremely important now. As endowment
funds are exhausted, new funds must take
their place to assure the future of our medical
and social welfare institutions and to provide
a reserve for emergencies — times when ad-
verse economic conditions may require un-
usually large sums to keep open the doors of
these institutions to all who come to them.
You are respectfully invited to consider
joining Federation's Legacies and Grants pro-
gram as set up in the United Jewish Charities.
The plan calls for the building of an en-
dowment fund which will supplement the
funds coming into Federation through the an-
nual Allied Jewish Campaign (or through the
United Community Services for our affiliated
Torch Fund agencies).

HOW IT WORKS: The plan is based on

the signing of a letter of intent in which the
signer agrees to include Federation or any of
its constituent agencies or services in the
planning of his estate.

Most important — it does not cost the
signer a penny and is applicable only upon
the settlement of his estate.

WHAT YOU CAN DO: The plan must
have the support of the community if it is to
be successful. You can sign a letter of intent,
and then in turn, urge someone else to sign.

There is gratification in being able to help
one's fellow-man, whether it be for today or
the future generation. Your attorney or ac-
countant will help you institute this Ulan.

To help insure the future well being
of the Jewish Community of Greater
Detroit, you may declare your inten-
tion to contribute to the Endowment
Fund of Federation's Legacies and
Grants Program as set up in the United
Jewish Charities.

WILL YOU LET US KNOW you intend:
to include a bequest in your will.
or to obtain a Foundation gift to Federation
or to give Federation an insurance policy on your life
or to create a trust with Federation as beneficiary
or to give Federation a gift of real property
or to advise Federation at a later date the form and
amount of your contribution.

Delivering your letter of intent to the Fed-
eration (163 Madison Avenue) will make the
coming year happier for you and the years
ahead better for those who will receive the
benefits of your generosity.
