Governor Romney on Tuesday named Sidney Shevitz, president of the Jewish Community Coun- il, a member of the new Michi- gan Civil Rights Commission. The can- dlelight ceremony was per- formed by Rabbi M. Robert Syme and Cantor Harold Or- bach. Parents of the newlyweds are Mrs. Joseph Charles Fink of Prest Ave. and the late Mr. Fink and Mrs. Joseph Charles West of St. Martins Ave. and the late Mr. West. The bride wore a gown of white silk organza accented with ice-blue re-embroidered Alencon lace. The lace formed short sleeves, outlined the open neckline and trellised over a draped ice-blue taffeta empire line cummerbund onto the con- trolled skirt which formed a chapel train. A crown of seed pearls and Alencon lace held the short illusion veil. She car- ried an arrangement of white orchids and stephanotis on her wedding Bible. Elizabeth Guzick, the bride's cousin, served as maid of hon- or. Bridesmaids were Dian Fox and Mrs. Gerald Freedman. Alvin. West served his brother as best man-. Ushers were Ar- thur Elkin and Mark Fink, brother of the bride. Following a honeymoon in Washington, D.C., the couple will make their home in Royal Oak. Goldmans Mark Golden Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Ben Goldman observed their golden wedding anniversary Aug. 17 with a re- ception for family and friends at their cottage on Pleasant Lake, Bloomfield Township. Born in Russia, Mr. and Mrs. Goldman met and were mar- ried in Boston but moved to Detroit 44 years ago. Mr. Gold- man operated a hand laundry here until his retirement. They are now winter residents of Miami. The couple has three daugh- ters, Mrs. Jack. Koretz, Mrs. Moe Saslove and Mrs. Saul Shiefman, all Detroit residents; eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter, born to Julie Koretz Bridle the day be- fore the anniversary. I Ou r Letter Boxl The Rubinsteins Editor, The Jewish News: Upon opening last week's Jewish News, I was attracted to Nathan Ziprin's, "On the Record." Mr. Zipkin talks about Anton Rubinstein, the great composer and pianist, yet the picture is of Artur Rubin- stein. Anton Rubinstein lived from 1829-1894. Artur Rubin- stein, one of the most renown- ed pianists of our time, is very much alive today. We must not confuse the two.
